CLIPLOCKchecker

Automatic check of cliplock bottles using camera technology

The cliplock bottle is making a comeback. Growth in the beer market today can only be gained with specialities. One of these is the cliplock bottle which is becoming increasingly popular as a traditional product.

That is the good news. Every brewery which offers that product is aware of the disadvantages: along with the high technical expenditure for the cliplock it is mainly the quality assurance of the cliplock which causes problems. In particular, the hygienic condition of the rubber seal is frequently disastrous. Dirt and the formation of mould can really put customers off. In addition, bent and rusty clips and broken sop buttons on the clapper also impair the image of the product and may lead to problems in fastening the clip.

Up until now, test staff were mainly tasked with sorting these bottles – a tiring and not very effective method of testing. Now thanks to state-of-the-art camera technology and the method developed at opsis, testing can now be automated – and the "camera's eye" never gets tired!
